Therapy for Deeper Insight and Meaningful Change

For thoughtful adults and teenagers seeking deeper insight into themselves, their relationships, and the life they want to build.

I’m Pao Roy (they/she), a Licensed Clinical Social Worker offering depth-oriented therapy for thoughtful adults and teenagers feeling disconnected from themselves, others, or a clear sense of direction. I work with people who want to look beneath the surface of daily life to better understand who they are, what they want, and what is keeping them from living

I offer a presence that is warm, attuned, and nonjudgmental, while also being gently direct and willing to ask the deeper questions that can open new doors of self-compassion and self-insight. Together, we will uncover the underlying patterns, expectations, and narratives that have shaped your life, so you can move forward with greater clarity, purpose, and wholeness.

Common Areas of Focus

The areas below reflect some of the ways our work may take shape:

Identity, Self-Worth, and Belonging

  • Authenticity: Exploring who you are beyond inherited expectations, external pressures, and old narratives.

  • Self-worth:Working through the beliefs that leave you doubting your value, needs, or place in the world.

  • Belonging: Reconciling the tension between fitting in, being known, and feeling fully yourself.

  • Identity Processing:Making sense of who you are becoming as your values, needs, and sense of self continue to evolve.

Relationships, Attachment, and Family Dynamics

  • Relationships: Making sense of why connection can so easily become a site of anxiety, self-abandonment, conflict, or loss.

  • Attachment: Exploring why you may long for intimacy, yet struggle to feel secure, understood, or fully yourself in close relationships.

  • Family Dynamics:Looking at the childhood roles, family histories, and intergenerational patterns that continue to shape your present life.

  • Codependency:Understanding patterns of over-giving, over-responsibility, or losing yourself in relationships.

Overwhelm, Disconnection, and Pressure

  • Overwhelm: Making sense of the fear, urgency, and emotional intensity that can make daily life feel constricted or hard to manage.

  • Disconnection: Making sense of the loneliness, hopelessness, and emotional numbness that can make daily life heavy or hard to manage.

  • Perfectionism & Pressure to Prove: Untangling the standards and beliefs that tie your worth to performance, achievement, or getting things right.

  • People-Pleasing & Overfunctioning: Understanding the patterns that keep you overgiving, overextending, and carrying more than is yours.

Grief, Change, and the Wider World

  • Grief: Learning how to live with a loss that has changed the shape of your world.

  • Life Transitions & Crossroads: Finding your footing in a life chapter that is asking something new of you, whether that means making a difficult choice or learning how to live with one.

  • Inner Voice & Desire: Making room for the parts of yourself whose wants, truths, or longings have felt too risky, inconvenient, or hard to name.

  • Systemic Inequities: Naming and addressing the emotional and relational impact of living under systems that distort safety, dignity, belonging, and possibility, including white supremacy, patriarchy, homophobia, transphobia, ableism, classism, capitalism, and imperialism.
